Rent a house in Budapest for long term
Foreign families relocated to Hungary are looking for cozy, spacious homes providing a comfortable everyday life for all family members.
Expat families don’t move many times during their stay in Hungary, as it is more difficult to change your home with children. Once a family found its perfect house, they will most probably stay there for the years to come. They might move in exceptional cases, like changing the school or the family outgrows the house, but this is certainly rare. Short term house rental is common in case of movie productions only.
If you rent a house for long term there are many points to take into account. We hereby try to collect the most important ones to give you a helping hand:
1.) Always discuss with your spouse and family which location is the best for you. Is it important to be close to schools and kindergartens, or do you prefer to live next to the workplace?
2.) Choose the children’s school thoroughly and don’t forget that they have a life beyond school as well. How long does it take for them to get home from the school and go for private lessons? Are there many expats in the neighborhood whose kids your children can play with?
3.) It is also important to know where the closest pharmacies, groceries, bakeries and shopping centers are and how you can reach them.
4.) You shall choose your future home in Budapest also by taking into account if it is easily accessible by public transport. You and your spouse may have a car but what about if you have teenagers and they would like to go out or just meet friends and go to the cinema? Public transport can also be an important factor for the cleaning lady. How can she get to you? We suppose you prefer not to give her a lift every time…
5.) Regarding the size of the house: of course it is great to rent a huge house with many rooms but kids like to be close to each other and the parents especially while younger. Utility costs can skyrocket if you insist on having a 5-6 bedroom villa because you will have many visitors.
6.) Most of the houses are offered without furniture, so your first impression of the house may not be good… but use your imagination! Try to see the house with your own furniture, decorations and private items! It will show a totally different atmosphere if you make it YOUR HOME!
